AMG in Morocco at "ICANN et industrie des noms de domaines

In early December 2015 AMGlobal’s Sofia Hilali and Andrew Mack spent a week in Casablanca, Marrakech and Rabat, Morocco for a series of meetings and speaking engagements. On December 7th 2015, AMGlobal was invited to present at the Casablanca Technopark at the ISOC Morocco event “ICANN et industrie des noms de domaines”. Speaking alongside ICANN’s VP for Africa, Mack shared AMGlobal’s experiences from work on different gTLDs and ccTLDs — including .ngo and .africa — and discussed how the domain name industry has significantly impacted emerging markets both economically and in the creation of new opportunities for civil society.

Mack was also interviewed in “L’Economiste”, Morocco’s leading economic and technology daily paper. As part of the trip, the AMG team met with the country’s biggest domain registrar and a series of key resellers, as well as government officials working with Moroccan NGOs active across Africa, to discuss how leading regional NGOs could expand their networks through the new .ngo platform.
